As poke made its way from the islands of Hawaii across the globe, the dish began to take off in different directions. From being served with different protein options, to being served with unexpected ingredients and seasonings, the concept of poke became both globalized and molded to the palates of local diners. For a more traditional interpretation of poke when you’re away from the islands, lean towards ordering fewer ingredients –ie. fish, soy sauce and scallions–, and enjoy a la carte (without a “carb”). No matter what your poke looks like, at the heart of the dish should be the spirit of aloha! We’re excited to witness just how far and wide poke has travelled, navigating its way into the hearts and stomachs of food lovers all over the world. From Hawaii to the shores of the US, the prairies of Canada, and the Asian continent, we know that poke is here to stay!
